SPECIFICATION OF COMPACTING OF DIFFERENT LAYERS IN BITUMINOUS ROADS.

COMPACTION OF DIFFERENT LAYERS OF BITUMINOUS : 

Compaction of different layers is an important factor in highway construction. The importance of density in bituminous pavement is outlined. The mechanism of compaction is described.

 Steel wheel rollers are commonly used for compaction. 

The three types of steel wheel rollers used for compaction are three wheel rollers, two wheel tandem rollers and three-axle tandem rollers.

 The advantages of pneumatic rolling in the intermediate rolling stage are described. 

Factors influencing compaction are:  

1. Compacting temperature, 

2. Grade of bitumen 

3. Quantity 

4. Type of filler.
